Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when everything changes. You can feel your whole world shift. You know you can never go back to being the person you were, because that person is dead. Sure, there are parts of you that will continue on. But a doorway in your life has opened up, and you are going in.
This is what happened to me on my first trip out West in 2016. Many of my friends and family will think it was from seeing Lake Powell for the first time. Yes, I absolutely love that beautiful lake. But that’s not where the wheels really started turning. It was standing on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon thinking, “Wait, people can walk down there”?? “I can walk down there……”.
My first major hiking trip was to Havasupai Falls, which is part of the Havasupai Indian Reservation. After that, I did day trip hikes in various parts of the US and Canada. My biggest accomplishment has been a Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim in a day adventure. Next up, I have my eyes on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Follow along with me as I share a lot of my tips, training, and take-aways from my travels on hikes big and small.
